As of now ONLY a few states have just magnetic encoded information on the back just like the back of a credit card.
But most states are either going to or already have implemented the 2d scan code.
Lets look at Ohio for example
Most drivers licences have just the mag strip NOW but implementation is on the way and inproccees for the 2d scan code.
